Vicky, Project Manager for Vastint UK explains the current progress being made to the public realm on site.
"With works progressing rapidly on site, we are now looking to complete the finishes and landscaping surrounding Dane’s Yard and Botanical Mews.
Dane’s Yard itself, which is the area around the Print House Restaurant & Kitchen, will be reinstated following building construction works. This will include areas of seating around the tower and along the river wall.
We’ll also create new areas of public realm. These will include Cooperage Yard (the area adjacent to the historic Sugar House) as well as the areas between the new Dane’s Yard buildings. This new public realm will be constructed in granite blocks to tie in with the historical buildings.
For the landscaping, our landscape architect, Planit-IE, has handpicked the trees for Dane’s Yard and Botanical Mews from the fields of Hampshire-based tree nursery, Hillier. The first batch of approximately 60 trees were lifted in early 2018 while they were dormant, and have been placed into air pots to continue growing ready to plant.
As well as trees, the public realm areas around Dane’s Yard and Botanical Mews incorporate elements of soft landscaping with areas of established ornamental shrub and herbaceous planting. These will be located in the shared street environment on the roads to the north and south of Botanical Mews."
