July construction update at Sugar House Island
We asked Vastint UK Construction Manager, Richard Lam, for an update on works on site.
"The good weather we’ve had recently has helped the team make great progress in Dane’s Yard.
You’ll be able to see that the exterior envelopes of 1 Dane’s Yard and 1 Sugar House Lane are progressing, and behind the hoardings internal works are starting on both buildings. The steel frame of 1 Cooperage Yard is being installed which is giving a visible outline of the building straight away. Foundations are going in for 2 Dane’s Yard which will become another bar & restaurant when creative businesses begin to take occupation of Dane’s Yard next spring.
The refurbishment of 3 Sugar House Lane is continuing. This Victorian warehouse will eventually have a new extension with a double-height atrium space.
Residential buildings are also progressing well. The external envelope of Botanical Mews is going up along the south elevation, and the apartments are being progressed with internal finishings. All concrete works are now completed on this plot and the mews houses are under construction.
The substructure works of plot R2 are now complete and the concrete frame is up to first floor of the riverside block. Work is being planned for the timber bridge which will connect Sugar House Island to the park on the other side of the river.
Piling works have begun to plot R3.
There are no planned works on R4 this month.
Infrastructure works are continuing along Sugar House Lane with new drainage and district heating and utilities. The Energy Centre is now commissioned and awaiting plot completions."
