Breakfast Talk with Michael Davis
THE FUTURE OF WORK, AGILE SPACES FOR INNOVATOR TALENT - Thursday 1st November
Michael Davis, Head of London Unlimited at JLL will be hosting our first ‘Meet the Team’ breakfast event on Thursday 1st November at 08:30 where he talks about his book “Industrial Rehab: A New Space of Opportunity”. Register to attend at The Print House by emailing email@example.com.
We asked Michael to tell us a bit himself ahead of his talk.
What does your job involve?
I get to advise landowners on how best to design and implement regeneration projects in emerging areas of London (and a handful outside of London too), and work with creative businesses like tech companies, advertising agencies, fashion designers and even people like the Ministry of Sound!
Did you always want to get involved in the property industry?
Not always… I actually came down to London to develop a career in music!
What inspires you most about your work?
The opportunity to work on some really beautifully designed buildings, and to help advise creative and pioneering businesses to grow and expand. I also get to do a lot of work with PropTech projects which is exciting to be at the forefront of change in the property world.
East London is changing fast at the moment, what do you see ahead for the area?
More of the same! There is lots of underutilised land in east London which would be great to see more housing to help accommodate the people who need to live and work in London. The boroughs with the youngest average ages are also in east London because of the influx of young graduates, which means they will continue to want exciting bars, restaurants and other amenities.
What do you think about the scheme at Sugar House Island?
The project is really exciting – a great mix of heritage warehouse buildings for businesses, a school and lots of well designed and generously proportioned homes, all with a great waterside setting. It’s going to be a great place for families and workers to hang out no matter what time.
Upcoming events include:
Andrew Waugh of Waugh Thistleton Architects talks about designing spaces for creatives on Wednesday 5th December.
Register to attend at The Print House by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
