August construction update at Sugar House Island
We asked Simon Charlton, Project Manager for Vastint UK, for an update on works on site.
"As the good weather continues, good progress continues to be made on site, currently the development is constantly changing with many new buildings rising from the ground.
The differing facades of 1 Dane’s Yard and 1 Sugar House Lane are now providing a real statement for what Dane’s Yard will be. Behind the hoardings is a hive of activity and works are progressing well with all internal staircases now in use. The steel frame of 1 Cooperage Yard has been installed and gives a strong impression of what this centrally located dual aspect office will be.
Construction is progressing well for 2 Dane’s Yard, following completion of the foundations, the structural concrete frame has now begun enabling this rooftop terraced building to begin to take shape.
The refurbishment of our Victorian warehouse 3 Sugar House Lane progresses and we have taken delivery of the structural frame for the extension. Soon you will see this structure erected and a further dimension to Sugar House Island established.
Residential buildings continue to progress. The precast external envelope of Botanical Mews is going up on multiple elevations now, with the brickwork to the Sugar House Lane elevation now complete. Internally apartments are progressing and internal walls to some apartments are beginning to be plastered. The courtyard mews houses install is continuing and has reached full structural height, we will now begin to form the external walls and complete the roof works.
Plot R2 superstructure works are progressing at great speed with both tower cranes are now in full action. The timber bridge connecting Sugar House Island and the park is progressing well and is forecast to be installed by Q4 of 2018.
R3 piling works are ongoing and will be complete within August.
R4 pilling works have now been completed.
Infrastructure works are continuing and we have now seen external levels to the roads between Botanical Mews and plot R2 being raised. Sugar House Lane drainage and district heating / utility works continue to be installed."
